Beautiful Sadness a.k.a Masochism: South Park Style

Posted on January 9, 2008. Filed under: Quotes | Tags: , , , , |

In one episode of South Park, Stan found his friend Butters, who just had his heart broken, sitting on a rain-soaked curb and in tears.

Butters: Uh, well, yeah, I’m sad, but at the same time I’m really happy that something could make me feel this sad. It’s like… it makes me feel alive, you know? It makes me feel human. The only way I can feel this sad now is I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I’m feeling now is like a beautiful sadness.

Ah, so young and yet so masochistic. I don’t think we need more Butters in the world. O_o

Quote for the day: “Mani boss, gusto nyo? Lasang mani.” (quoted from the manong who was selling peanuts in the bus I was riding on my way home… totally made my night ^_^)

heh. I was searching for a video of this quote for my blog and found this page. I never really thought of butters quote as masochistic before, just hopeful. i guess it’s kind of both.
